I chose Mr. Linden's Library as my descriptive piece. For this assignment I wrote about a simple black and white picture. I used to imagination to put the pieces together and make this story.
Belle was a selfless, genuine young lady. She did not have a care in the world and faced no problems whatsoever. She was really into school and loved learning new things. Every time she had an opportunity, she'd go to the local library or bookstore and read.
One gloomy afternoon Belle decided to go to the well known Mr. Linden's Library. There is a bin filled with used books that are offered for free. Belle took advantage of this and would go through it almost every week. Something felt different this time. The library was quitter than usual and there were not as many smiles going around. Belle did not think too about it at the time though.
Belle leaned over the book bin and started scavengering. She found a book with no title or author, but there were dead petals coming out of the pages. Belle was interested in strange and mysterious things, so this book was definitely a keeper. As she started to head out of the bookstore, a man she has never seen before gave her a frightened look. When he locked eyes with Belle, he turned pale as if he had just seen a ghost.
Shivers crawled up Belle's back as she sped-walked out the library into the rain. Focusing on avoiding as many puddles as she possibly could on the ground, Belle bumped into a man as she turned a corner. It turned out to the same man she had just seen in the library. The man had a terrible look in his eyes. Belle can sense the bad vibes that he expressed.
"There is a reason there is no title for that book," the man whispered into Belle's face.
Belle is aware that there are many crazy people out on the streets these days. She decided it would be best if she ignored him and kept walking. She smiled, in a very confused way, and walked around this man.
"Bad things will happen!" The man yelled after Belle, warning her.
This crossed the line and freaked Belle out. She began walking even faster. She decided to stop at a café so dry off. This was a perfect time to start reading the book she picked up. She was even more interested in it after being warned.
When Belle opened the book she could smell fresh rose pedals, it felt as if it was a lovely spring afternoon. As she began to read the book she couldn't seem to make herself stop. The book was practically sucking Belle into the story. Pages were turned after pages, so rapidly that Belle had bunches of paper cuts all over her fingers.
Belle has never been exposed to such a horrific story in her life. At the end of the book there was a very detailed hand-drawn picture of some man. The same man that had warned Belle about the book. It turns out that she had encountered Mr. Linden himself. Under the picture the words, "Bad things will happen," were written. He had warned her about the book, but now it was too late for Belle.
