Adventure Awaits

This is the play I wrote. I based it off of The Breakfast Club. It's one of my favorite movies so it made it easier for me to keep writing.

BLANK SCREEN:
                Against white, TITLE CARD:

The detention classroom is filled with mischievous and rebellious teenagers who don’t have the patience to waste their sweet time on a Saturday that can be spent doing far more entertaining things than being stuck in a classroom with their least favorite teacher.

CLASSROOM – EARLY SATURDAY MORNING

We see CLAIRE and BRIAN sitting next to each other in the very back of the classroom, behind many empty desks.

CLAIRE

How in the world are we supposed to sneak out of this classroom when Mr. Cherry is going to be watching us for the next six hours?

BRIAN

Claire, do you really think he’ll have his eyes glued on all of us for that long? Knowing him, he’ll probably pass out two hours into the detention, at most.

CLAIRE

You’re right, he’s always sleeping during finals anyways. How would we get out of here in the first place?

BRIAN

We could always go right through the door but that’s too easy. Going out through the window seems riskier and a lot more fun.

CLAIRE

You’re crazy, but I’m in!

An hour passes by and MR. CHERRY is snoring at the front desk

BRIAN

It’s go time.

Claire

But what if someone tells on us?

BRIAN
Don’t you worry Claire, I’m sure everyone in here will not care enough to do so, and even if they did care at all they would most likely just join us.

BRIAN opens the back window slyly and follows CLAIRE outside.

CAFETERIA – SATURDAY NOON

BRIAN and CLAIRE are hungry but have no money on them so they decide to sneak into the lunch room and steal some snacks.

CLAIRE

Okay, I say we get the chocolate muffins and Chex Mix.

BRIAN

Sounds good to me but I also want some pizza, do you think we’ll have time to use the microwave?

CLAIRE

We’ll have to make it quick because I don’t know if there’s anybody around at this time on a Saturday.

BRIAN

I’m sure there isn’t, it’s a weekend. There’s no school in session. Therefore the lunch ladies don’t have any kids to feed in the first place.

CLAIRE

There are always the janitors.

BRIAN

I’m sure the janitors would join in.

BRIAN and CLAIRE sneak into the lunch room and stuff their sweatshirt pockets with food. As soon as BRIAN puts a slice of pizza in the microwave, they hear footsteps coming towards them. Panicking, CLAIRE grabs BRIANS hand and they start sprinting down the hallway towards the football field.

FOOTBALL FIELD – SATURDAY NOON

Panting, CLAIRE and BRIAN take a break from running. They both collapse on the hot turf football field. They take off their sweatshirts and sit on them. They take out their food and begin to have a picnic.

BRIAN

Well that was a close one, wasn’t it Claire?

CLAIRE

A little too close, are you sure it’s a good idea to be sitting out here in plain sight eating all the food we just stole?

BRIAN

Hey who cares, we’ll be fine.

A golf cart makes its way up the track towards the football field. The two security guys are in there with mad expressions on their faces.

BRIAN

RUN!

BRIAN and CLAIRE begin to run away from the scene, bringing everything they had with them. They run through a hole in the fence behind the football field. They are now off campus and decide to run all the way around school to where the detention classroom is.

CLAIRE

We better not get caught Brian, I’m not trying to have Saturday detentions for the rest of the school year!
BRIAN

Don’t even worry about it, we’ll be okay. I promise you!

BRIAN and CLAIRE run through the front of school trying to avoid the school security. They finally arrive to the window of their Saturday detention classroom. CLAIRE jumps in first, making not a sound and gets back to her desk in a heartbeat. BRIAN jumps in next, making a giant thump as he hits the ground, knocking over a few books.

MR.CHERRY

Brian what are you doing at over there?

BRIAN

I’m sorry Mr. Cherry; I was just looking for something to read.

MR. CHERRY

Just sit back down in your desk and don’t make another sound.

BRIAN

Yes sir!

Brian and Claire got away with sneaking out of detention, stealing school food, and outrunning the school security even though they had a golf cart.

Scene ends

Rain

This is another vignette, about rain this time. The rain brings back very special memories. It was nice writing about the past for once.

We were cuddling on the couch inside. All our friends were already asleep and we were catching up. Bringing back past memories, which led to bringing up past feelings. The thumping of the rain got hard and harder the more we talked. It was like a tease. I jumped up and pulled you outside. I felt so refreshed as soon as I stepped into the puddles barefoot. I turn around and our eyes intertwine. You pulled me in and gave me a big kiss on the lips. The feeling of the cold raindrops on our faces made everything so much better. I felt so safe in your arms, even under the darkest raincloud. The most unexpected moments are by far the best moments.

ABCat

This is my ABC poem. This was a fun and not so easy poem to write. It was really hard having the poem make any sense but it was definitely a fun process.

Rapunzewl

This is my adult fairytale. I decided to make Rapunzel, a sweet and innocent princess into a ghetto fabulous teenager. The character can some what relate to an actual teenager going through the rebellious phase.
Rapunzewl

Once upon a time there was a rebel seventeen year old named Rapunzewl. Rapunzewl wasn’t any ordinary teenager. She was as sassy as can be and had a big appetite for danger. Not only a big appetite, but a big amount of hair as well. It wasn’t all of her real hair of course; she had a weave that was ten times longer than she was. She lived in a high castle with only one window and she wasn’t allowed to leave since she was on house arrest. Her parole officer made it clear that she couldn’t step outside, not even for fresh air, until she was off of probation, which wasn’t any time soon. Repunzewl thought this punishment was very stupid. She didn’t think what she did was even that bad. Although the rest of the town agrees that robbing store after store down the market street was completely and utterly unforgiveable. She didn’t commit this crime all by herself though. She has Tyrone help her out. They’ve been partners in crime ever since they have learned how to walk. One sunny evening Rapunzwel was calmly brushing out her long weave when she hears her name being called from the outdoors. She rushes to the window dragging her long hair along with her.

“Yo Rapunzewl! Let down yo long ass weave and let me in yo crib,” Called out Tyrone.

“Yo ass left me at the crime scene, leaving me with all the blame fool!” Rapunzewl replied.

Tyrone waves a bucket of KFC and Rapunzewl throws down her weave faster than a bowling ball would hit the ground coming down from a ten story window. Tyrone knew Rapunzewls weakness ever since her thirteenth birthday when they robbed the local KFC and took the stores week supply of frozen food. They had the courtesy to keep all the money safely in the registers though.

Once Tyrone gets into the prison castle he throws out an idea about breaking out and running away. Rapunzewl is blown away by this crazy plan and is left speechless. She is a courageous girl and does what she wants when she wants. She’s always had a thing for Tyrone too. It’s every girls dream to have her prince charming come save her and runaway together and live happily ever after.

Rapunzewl packed up her bags and seperated her weave in multiple braids. This made it less likely for her hair to get stuck in the bushes on the run. They dressed themselves in camouflage and headed out the window. Tyrone was the first one down of course, coming down using Rapunzewls hair. She managed to make a rope out of cooking aprons, old t-shirts, and dorags. Once they were both on the ground, Rapunzewl jumped into Tyrone’s arms and gave him a big smooch on the cheek. Her dreams were finally coming true and she couldn’t have been any happier. The adrenaline rush from finally making a move on Tyrone made her want to do something even more outrageous and dangerous. They start sprinting into the forest holding hands.

They lived happily ever after on the run, madly inlove.

California Breeze

This is my short piece. I like this piece because I think that it's very true. The sound of the ocean waves relaxes me, whether I'm actually at the beach or I'm just listening to a soundtrack.

Irony

This is my picture poem. It's based off a black and white photo of what seems to be an abandoned saloon. I added in as many details to draw the picture in the reader's mind.

Picture Poem

Abandoned and lonesome

The old building stays

With just a cat in the window pane

And no customers coming its way

Ironic how a sign invites people in

Also scares them away

With the attention

Of the warning on display

The boarded window is open

Allowing sunlight in on such a beautiful day

Everything still seems broken

The cat full of dismay

Paint is peeling off the tall walls

Wood is chipping as well

Echoes of birds chirping and wild wolf calls

Sending vibes of a good day in hell

Ironic how even on the most magnificent afternoon

A setting can be filled with such gloom
